A collection method that costs the colony nothing
Collection takes place at the hive entrance, on a glass plate wired with a low-voltage circuit. A very mild pulse prompts foraging bees to sting the glass: the stinger does not catch in it, the bee flies off unharmed, and the venom dries on the plate.
The colony is neither opened nor moved, and the operation takes only a few dozen minutes. That is what makes venom compatible with standard apiary management.

- No. The bee stings a glass plate, where its stinger does not catch. It withdraws it and flies off. The method is designed to leave the colony intact.

- The order of magnitude ranges from a few tens to a few hundred milligrams of dry venom per session and per strong hive, highly variable depending on the season, the population and the weather.
- 03When is the best time to collect?
- During the warm season, on populous colonies in good condition. Periods of scarcity and the end of the season are avoided, when the colony has other priorities.
- 04How is venom stored?
- Dry, away from light and humidity, in a sealed opaque vial. It degrades with heat and light.
